OTT App Development
The technology behind your video experience — streaming apps for web, mobile and the living room, plus the APIs, CMS, subscriptions and video workflows that make an OTT service work.
Can you build a multi-platform OTT application?
Yes. We build OTT services across web, iOS, Android and Smart TV platforms — Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS — on a shared backend for catalogue, users, entitlements and playback. Each app is designed for its own platform's input model, performance limits and store requirements.
An OTT service is an ecosystem, not an app. Viewers see a catalogue and a player; behind them sit content ingest, metadata, rights windows, subscriptions, entitlements, DRM, CDNs, ads, analytics and customer support tools. Most launch delays come from the seams between those pieces.
Our POC-first approach tackles the seams first. A typical OTT POC proves the end-to-end path — content published in the CMS, entitled to a user, played back securely on a web client plus one or two priority TV platforms — before investing in every device.
What an OTT POC typically proves
- Content flows from CMS to apps with the metadata each platform needs
- Sign-up, sign-in and device activation work (including TV code/QR login)
- Entitlements and subscriptions gate playback correctly
- Protected streams play reliably on the priority devices
- The shared API can serve additional platforms without redesign
- Analytics and ad events fire where the business needs them
The exact POC scope depends on your content model, business model and target devices.
Platforms
One OTT backend. A purpose-built app for each screen.
We don't promise identical functionality on every device. Older TVs have less memory, some platforms restrict payment flows, and each store has its own certification checklist. We plan the feature matrix per platform up front.

Platform availability, store approval and certification are controlled by each platform owner. We prepare apps against their published requirements and support the submission process.
What we build
Every layer of an OTT service
Viewer apps
Browse, search, watch, continue watching, profiles, favourites and downloads where the platform allows.
Content CMS
Catalogue, series and seasons, rails and collections, artwork per device, scheduling and availability windows. CMS development.
Users & entitlements
Accounts, device limits, TV activation codes, subscription plans, in-app purchases and access rules.
Playback & video
HLS/DASH players, DRM integration, captions and audio tracks, live and VOD. Video & streaming.
Ads & analytics
Client-side and server-side ad insertion, measurement SDKs, QoE metrics and business reporting.
OTT APIs
Fast, cacheable catalogue APIs that serve every device from one source of truth. Backend & APIs.
Planning considerations
What we plan for in every OTT project
These are the issues that most often surprise teams new to OTT. We raise them during POC planning so they're decisions, not discoveries.
Business model
SVOD, AVOD, TVOD, FAST or hybrid — each changes entitlements, ads, payments and analytics.
Platform payment rules
App stores have their own in-app purchase rules; where and how users subscribe affects every app.
Device fragmentation
Model years, memory and codec support vary widely — especially across Smart TV brands.
Rights & availability
Territory, window and device rights must be enforced consistently by the backend, not each app.
OTT development FAQ
Do we need to launch on every platform at once?
Usually not. Most services launch on web plus the platforms where their audience already watches, then expand. Because the backend is shared, adding a platform later is mainly client work.
Can you work with our existing video platform or CMS?
Yes. We can build apps against an existing online video platform, CMS or subscription system, or replace individual pieces gradually.
Do you handle app store and TV store submission?
We prepare builds against each platform's published guidelines and support the submission and certification process. Final approval is always at the platform owner's discretion.
Can you build a FAST or live channel experience?
Yes — EPG-style guides, live playback and scheduled programming can be part of the product, typically integrated with your playout or channel provider.
